Whereas families and fans across Ontario are being priced out of live events, with World Series tickets now listed for $2,000–$3,000+ in the upper decks;Whereas Ontario’s Ticket Sales Act (2017) originally included a 50% cap on ticket re-sale prices, designed to stop extreme gouging and keep events affordable;Whereas Doug Ford scrapped the cap in 2019 despite evidence of re-sale markups as high as 20,000% on concert tickets;Whereas when Jays won the world series in 1993 a ticket to the game cost less than what a beer and a hot dog would cost you right now; Therefore be it resolved that we, the undersigned, call on Doug Ford to update the Ticket Sales Act to put fans first and end the harm of fraud, automated bots, dynamic and predatory pricing in the ticket resale market by banning the resale of tickets above their face value.
